About the M1 and N2 Pens
Q1. Can I use it with normal paper? |
Well, it writes normal ink so technically yes...BUT...it wont record your writing strokes unless you use the special notebooks provided by us/sold on www.thesmartpenshop.com. The M1+ M1 and N2 only record with Ncode™, a special barely visible printed code in the background that is present in all the stationery we sell. Users can print their own paper with Ncode™ through their printer using some pre determined formats provided by Neolab. The link to the formats is https://www.neosmartpen.com/en/ncode-pdf/ Ncode™ printing supports PS (Postscript) and PCL5 driver printers. |
Q2. Is it possible to connect N2 with multiple devices? | Bluetooth technology only allows devices to pair 1 to 1. Information is stored in the local App and devices but we are developing cloud saving services for users to access their information through multiple devices. If you pair to one device and try to pair to another you may need to unfair from the first device. |
Q3. Why do I need the password? |
We recommend setting the password to protect your personal information when you lose your pen. The initial password is set to ‘0000’ and users can change this later in settings. |
Q4. What should I do when I run out of ink? Is it replaceable? |
You can pull the empty pen tip out easily, dispose of it and simply insert a new one in until your finger stops. It is normal for it to feel a little loose when wriggled up and down as the ink cartridge fits in a pressure sensor. Refills can be purchased from us or on/offline stores. Search for “D1 refill”. There are various pen tip brands and colours. However, please note that Jell-ink type can affect the recognition. |
Q5. How long does the battery last? |
Upon constant usage, the battery will last for 5 hours. The auto on/off feature can allow the pen last up to 5 days for casual usage. Stand-by time can last up to 125 days. |
Q6. The pen isn’t turning on. How can I charge? |
Connect the pen through PC or USB adaptor (DC 5V) using the Micro USB cable. Charge it for 30 minutes and power on. Electric discharge can occur if the pen has not been used for long period of time. |
Q7. What is the seal attached to the notebook? |
A. After registering the pen through the app, check the seal with N2. The seal locks the old notebook and opens a new one. |
Q8. Where can I purchase notebooks and accessories? |
N Notebook and accessories can be purchased in online stores that handles NeoLAB’s products. Please visit www.neosmartpen.com for sales and purchase. |
Q9. The writing content is missing |
The pen can recognise only a certain degree (-20°C~+40°C). Hold the pen upwards where it can recognise the angle. ALSO, Please check if there are foreign substance in the camera sensor/camera. |
Q10. The pen lid gets loose. Is it a design flaw? |
Hold down the pen case until you hear a ‘click’ sound. It is designed to be stable. |
Q11. How should I write with the Pen? |
Here are some tips for writing. Remember the Pen has to record what you write and it does that through the small camera in the tip of the pen. The camera magnifies the Ncode™ on the paper and records the strokes as you write through the Ncode™. Hold the pen gently so it does not cause pressure to the wrist and maintain a natural writing angle. The Pen must be used like the 2nd picture, not the first. There is no need to press down too hard. This could damage the pressure sensor that the ink nib sits in. Product’s acceptable recognition angle is -20° ~ +40°. (90° vertical standard) |
Q12. What is the Tick box label on the Nnote Stationary for? |
This was used with the initial release of the Neo smartpen N2. It was needed for the App to understand you had created a new notebook and what type of notebook it was. However, this is no longer needed with the new App so if you see it, just ignore it. You can pick up any book and write on any page and the App will know what page and book it is. Easy! |
Q13. How do I turn the Pen on and how does Auto On work? | You turn the Pen on in two ways. A) Manually by pressing the Silver on button for 1 second until the LED goes White and a small beep is heard. B) Auto On - Just remove the cap and touch the nib on any Ncode™ notebook and wait one second. The LED will go white and the Pen will Beep. Then you can start writing and the Pen will record. PLEASE NOTE: Auto On MUST be set up in the App for it to work. Simply tunrn the Pen on manually, make sure its connected to the App by checking the white circle / pen icon is solid. Then in the App go to: ‘Menu’ > ‘Settings’ > ‘Pen Information’ and flick the Auto Power On switch to ON. |
